Historic England - Picturing Lockdown

Hello everyone, I'm not very good at keeping secrets and I've been super excited so it's been very difficult to keep quiet. However, I can now finally tell you all the great news! I am honoured to have had three of my photos selected by Historic England for their Picturing Lockdown Project! A collection of photos documenting one week of lockdown during the Covid-19 pandemic. The public were asked to share images that document seven days in lockdown from 29 April – 5 May. Out of nearly 3,000 submissions from across England. 100 of these images were selected.

I submitted this image as it shows British humour even during such difficult times. It uses Bruce Forsyth to help keep spirits high. It keeps people safe by making following the rules fun.

This image was chosen by the artist Anand Chhabra to represent the West Midlands region. He stated “It’s great because of the humour the image uplifts you. It also speaks of the Brummie humour as well in tough times.”

This notice shows that even in great uncertainty the British never lose their charm or humour! This was taken of the sign outside of Ghetto Golf in Birmingham.

It was important to me to document and share the positive moments, like this random act of kindness. This family had clearly had a clear out but with charity shops closed they've left the DVDs and CDs out for others. Stay tuned! I will continue to document lockdown until we're finally back to normal, ...Assuming that normality will one day return, Thank you for taking the time to read my blog, Stay weird. Stay wonderful, Telly Vision (LostTelly)
